Short Story Reflection
There were many fun parts in the short story assignment. The part that I enjoyed the most was coming up with the characters, designing their quirks, putting them in different setting to see what they would do and creating a world were they lived. Designing the cover of the story and gathering visuals for inspiration was also really fun.
This assignment thought me a lot of things for example; I learned that writing a short story (and writing in general) is not as easy as it looks. I also learned how to properly write dialogue and how to “show” a story and not “tell” it.
From all the short stories we’ve read I liked “The Tell Tale Heart” the most. But all the other stories were very interesting as well. From all these stories I learned how a short piece of writing can impact you in great measures. I also learned to look at how the masters write and to take notes of their techniques.
In this assignment I learned that I, as a writer absolutely love writing dialogue, I really enjoyed writing the little moments between characters. I also like writing scenes were emotions are at their extreme (a bit dramatic, I guess.) Overall I found out that instead of writing big, meaningful and “the world is in danger” moments, I like writing scenes were small things are magnified.
“Fire and Ice” , “The Fog” and My Thoughts On Them
Both poems were equally entertaining and I really liked the fact that they used strong metaphors.
